CrossFit Kids: Where Fun Meets Fitness and Every Class Ends with a Smile!

The Benefits of CrossFit Kids

The number one priority in CrossFit Kids is FUN! We want kids to look forward to coming to class and learn to associate fitness with FUN! They will develop a strong foundation for maintaining a healthy lifestyle throughout adulthood.

While keeping it fun with a good balance of variety and repetition, CrossFit movements and workouts are meant to engage the whole body. They are foundational for everyday life and are excellent training for all sports that kids may be involved in.

Exercise has been proven to be crucial for both physical and mental well-being and development in kids and even enhances learning and problem solving. In our CrossFit kids classes, we aim to include three key factors for kids growth and development while carefully considering their safety with each movement.

  1. Impact loading, through all kinds of jumping movements, helps to increase bone mineral deposition, in turn building stronger bones. Impact loading through repetition for kids, with minimal external weights, helps to build muscle.
  2. Movements, such as forward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, spins, and skin the cats, activate the brain’s vestibular system involved in balance, coordination, agility, and accuracy.
  3. Keeping our priorities straight, we must never forget the GAME at the end of class!

The science is clear; however, the true evidence of a successful class is seeing the kids becoming part of the CrossFit community, sharing fist bumps, and celebrating their own and each other’s wins! We want to see kids leaving class with a smile, a sense of accomplishment, and curiosity for the next class!

Our next session of k2o Kids starts next week on Tuesday September 17. If you are interested and would like to get your child involved or would like more information, send us a message on social media, a text to 3069930064, or email us at info@crossfitk2o.ca.
