“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”
From February 28th to March 16th, k2o members will compete in a fun, team-based version of the CrossFit Open, earning points through workouts, participation, and community challenges. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or new to the gym, the Intramural Open is designed for everyone to enjoy.
Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s event, including how to sign up, earn points, and make the most of the experience.

What Is The Intramural Open?
The Intramural Open is a gym-wide competition that brings our community together in a supportive, high-energy environment. Our version of the CrossFit Open is team-based—meaning every rep, cheer, and challenge helps your team succeed. (Spoiler alert: the workouts themselves are the smallest part of point scoring)
Over the course of three weeks, CrossFit HQ will release an Open workout every Thursday evening. We will complete these workouts at the gym over the weekend.
This event is about much more than just competition—it’s about camaraderie, pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, and having a great time with your fellow members.
How to Earn Points and Compete
One of the best parts of the Intramural Open is that there are multiple ways to contribute, no matter your skill level. Teams can earn points through the following:
- 1 point for doing the workout
- 1 point for posting a picture of you or your team on social media and tagging CrossFit k2o
- 1 point for attending the Intramural Open event
- 1 point for wearing your team colour
- 1 point for making a workout prediction
- 1 point for attending a workshop or Open Prep Saturday event
- 1 point for the top performer in Rx, Scaled, and Foundations
Why You Should Participate
Whether you’ve done the Open before or this is your first time, there are plenty of reasons to get involved:
- Challenge Yourself – The Intramural Open is a great opportunity to test your progress and step outside your comfort zone. You may surprise yourself with what you can achieve.
- Support Your Community – The competition isn’t just about individual performance; it’s about coming together as a team and lifting each other up.
- FUN! – Meet new gym members, participate in the challenges, learn some new skills, and my personal favourite for this year, see what Mackenzie, our k2o Joy Girl, has in store for all of us!
How To Sign Up
Signing up is simple—head to the CrossFit k2o membership page (if you are a member and not in there yet, request access and I’ll add you!), comment on the sign up post (it’s pinned at the top!) with ‘I’M IN’ and we’ll get you set up!
If you’re not on Facebook, send us a text or put your name on the whiteboard by the door.
The cost is $45 and includes your t-shirt with your team colour, post workout food, a nutrition workshop, and all of the fun that Mack has planned for us! To get your official k2o team t-shirt you must be signed up by February 10th! But sign up goes right until February 28th.
Here’s the competition schedule:
- 🏆 Workout 1: Friday February 28th @ 5:20pm
- 🏆 Workout 2: Saturday March 8th @ 2pm
- 🏆 Workout 3: Sunday March 16th @ 11am
We will have alternate dates set up for anyone that is unable to attend the event and would like to get their workout in, so don’t let that stop you from signing up if you can’t make one of the days!
